The Wekiva Mustangs delivered a thrilling performance but ultimately fell 62-57 to the Edgewater Eagles in the Class 6A District 5 semifinals, concluding their district run yet earning a berth in the regional playoffs.
Led by Coach Gersino Lubin, the Mustangs trailed by just one at halftime and briefly pulled ahead with strong showings from Kenny Dieujuste, Eric Nichols, and Louvens Saint Pierre.
Wekivaβs defense and key shots by Saint Pierre and Jasen Francillon pushed the game to the wire.
Late turnovers and missed free throws, however, allowed Edgewater to seize control and secure the win.
Despite the heartbreak, Wekiva remains focused and optimistic for the postseason, with Coach Lubin praising his teamβs effort and highlighting their potential for growth in upcoming games. Read More... |
Apopka celebrated a major boost to its water infrastructure with the unveiling of a new $3.2 million water tank at the Myrtle Rogers Womble Northwest Water Plant.
This 1-million-gallon prestressed concrete tank doubles the facilityβs storage and supports the cityβs fast-growing population.
The four-year project was funded in part by a $1.5 million grant secured by former U.S. Representative Val Demings and supported by city impact fees.
The new tank joins an existing 1-million-gallon tank first used in 1999, bringing the cityβs total water storage capacity up by 32% to 6.25 million gallons.
Mayor Bryan Nelson, joined by Demings and city officials, emphasized the tankβs role in meeting rising demand and providing stability for decades.
Ongoing upgrades and proactive measures, such as reducing water loss, reinforce Apopka's commitment to reliable water for all residents and businesses. Read More... |
