The Apopka Arts Center is hosting its Winter Art Showcase featuring local painters, sculptors, and mixed media artists. 👮 Neighborhood Safety Workshop Scheduled
Apopka Police Department will host a Neighborhood Safety Workshop on January 28 at 6:00 PM at the Apopka Community Center. 🏪 Local Business Spotlight: Small Biz Winter Fair
On January 30, 2026, Downtown Apopka will host a Small Business Winter Fair, featuring local vendors, live music, and family-friendly activities. |

As Apopka prepares for a sharp drop in temperatures, local churches are stepping forward to help those in need with safe shelter and warm meals.
One Family Church at 500 S. Highland Ave. will offer its fellowship hall as a cold weather shelter on January 29 and February 1, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Guests can expect dinner and breakfast, with space for up to 35 residents.
Pets are not allowed at this location.
First Methodist Church Apopka, at 201 S. Park Ave., will also open its doors January 31, from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
These shelters are part of a joint effort between the city and local faith leaders.
Residents are urged to use these resources and check on neighbors needing assistance during the cold snap. Read More... |

The Apopka Blue Darters girls basketball team paid tribute to seniors Abigail Henry and Elyse Pringle with a moving ceremony before facing the talented Dr. Phillips Panthers.
Despite emotional energy, the Blue Darters struggled early as the Panthers opened with a flurry of three-pointers and took an 11-5 lead.
Apopka’s determination showed through highlights from Amari Dillon, Destiny Gelin, and Pringle, but Dr. Phillips’ relentless offense pushed the halftime score to 25-7.
In the second half, Henry’s tenacity earned free throws, and Pringle connected with Gelin for another three-pointer, yet the Panthers maintained their edge.
Mikayla Wiggins and Gelin contributed late buckets, while Dillon sparked a rally, though Dr. Phillips held firm, winning 47-30.

In a recent patrol, Trooper Steve visited Binion Road in Apopka, Florida to address safety concerns and assist with traffic flow. He worked to ensure that drivers were obeying traffic laws and maintaining a safe environment on the road. Trooper Steve's presence helped deter speeding and other risky behaviors in the area. An Apopka man died after suffering a medical emergency while driving on I-4 in Hillsborough County, Florida. The man lost control of his vehicle, crossed multiple lanes of traffic, and collided with a barrier wall. Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed that the medical emergency led to the crash, and there were no other injuries reported. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. Read More... |

The popular barbecue brand, originally known as Crave at Rock Springs, is rebranding and expanding, promising to deliver “no-shortcuts, melt-your-soul BBQ” to the community.
Ella Duke, co-owner of Hall’s on Fifth, expressed excitement about the return of a brick-and-mortar BBQ spot, eager to see how Chef Rob’s creations will shape the food hall.
Crave BBQ recently closed its Rock Springs Road location but maintained a presence through pop-ups at Propagate Social House and Market on Fifth, delighting fans with their sought-after bread pudding and barbecue.
The upcoming opening at Hall’s will unite Crave’s operations under one roof, and the food hall itself is enhancing its offerings with a new green space for community events.
