The Orange County Library System (OCLS) is embracing the holiday spirit this December with a variety of programs designed to delight and educate the community.
With 15 public locations and a robust array of virtual resources, OCLS continues to serve over 4 million visitors annually, offering innovative and educational experiences.
In observance of the holidays, all OCLS branches will be closed on December 24, 25, 31, and January 1.
Here's a glimpse of the festive events planned for December:
Let's Get Cooking
Young chefs can get creative at the Little Chef: Snowman Cupcakes workshop on Friday, December 5, at the North Orange Branch in Apopka.
Children will learn basic culinary skills while decorating their own snowman-themed cupcakes, fostering both imagination and fine motor skills.
On Thursday, December 18, at 10:30 a.m., the South Creek Branch in Orlando will host Little Chef: Gingerbread House, where kids can construct and decorate their own gingerbread houses, combining creativity with culinary arts.
For those looking to ring in the New Year with style, the Cuisine Corner: New Year's Mocktails event on Tuesday, December 30, at the Hiawassee Branch in Orlando offers attendees the chance to craft festive, non-alcoholic beverages perfect for holiday celebrations.
Orlando Public Library Performances
The Orlando Public Library is set to host cherished holiday performances, including excerpts from the classic ballet "The Nutcracker," presented by the Central Florida Ballet on Sunday, December 7, at 2 p.m.
Additionally, the Atlantic Coast Theatre will present "Snow Queen," a musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's tale, on Saturday, December 20, at 3 p.m., offering a magical experience for all ages.
STEAM Learning Opportunities
School breaks don't mean a pause in learning.
OCLS offers LEGO Education Spike programs across various branches, providing children with opportunities to explore STEAM concepts through hands-on activities.

Teens can enhance their programming skills during the four-day Python Programming Camp from December 22 to 30 at the Windermere Branch.
